What is K-Pass card? 

K-Pass, which will be implemented from May 1, 2024, is a transportation card system that refunds a certain percentage of costs when using public transportation. If you use public transportation (city bus, subway, metropolitan bus, GTX, etc.) more than 15 times a month, you can receive a refund up to 60 times. The refund rate is differentially applied: 20% for the general public, 30% for the youth, and 53.3% for the low-income group

How to subscribe K-Pass card? 

If a user spends an average of 70,000 won per month, the general public can save 14,000 won, young people can save 21,000 won, and low-income people can save 37,000 won. To sign up for K-Pass, you must be registered as a resident in a participating local government, obtain a card and sign up for membership on the websites of 10 credit card companies. Existing economical transportation card users can receive K-Pass benefits through a simple membership conversion process. Foreigners can also sign up for K-Pass card. 

 

Required documents for K-Pass membership registration

ID card, driver's license, passport, etc. that can be used to verify your identity. You must be registered as a resident in a participating local government (Gyeonggi, Incheon). Transportation card information You may need information on previously used transportation cards (e.g. affordable transportation cards). Personal Information Agreement Agreement on the collection and use of personal information for use of K-Pass service Required information to be entered when registering as a member is name, date of birth, gender, contact information, address, etc. Optional input information includes email address and employment information. Existing economical transportation card users can receive K-Pass benefits through a simple membership conversion process without submitting a separate ID card. One thing to note when signing up for membership is that you must be registered as a resident in the participating local government. Please note that K-Pass benefits will not be applied until membership conversion is completed.

Each credit card company offers additional benefits, so savings are expected to be greater. Gyeonggi Province and Incheon City are implementing separate projects that provide additional benefits to K-Pass users. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to expand K-Pass participation in consultation with more local governments and improve convenience by reflecting user opinions.
